Katya Berger is a documentary filmmaker, contemporary art producer, and video editor.

Her projects often combine journalism, art and advocacy to tell educational stories aimed to move audiences and inspire action. Her focus is on human rights and women’s issues.

Her most notable work, ‘One Thousand Voices’, produced in collaboration with Gabonese artist and cultural activist Owanto, is an immersive sound installation composed of audio testimonies from Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting survivors from around the world. The piece has been exhibited at the Zeitz MOCAA (Cape Town), MACAAL (Marrakech), MADRE (Naples), the Paul Eluard Art and History Museum (Paris), and the Museum of Sex (New York), among others.

Previously, Katya has worked as a producer for ‘Quotidien Avec Yann Barthès’, ‘Sept à Huit’ and UN Women.

She is currently developing a true crime feature documentary about maternal mental illness, and does freelance video editing for podcasts.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and English Literature from King’s College London and a Master of Science from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
